Ground Broken On New Library

Plaza Will Also House Retail Space, Condos

Posted: 7:26 pm CDT April 25, 2007

Ground was broken on Wednesday for the redevelopment of Midvale Plaza, which includes the new Sequoya branch library.

The project extends along Tokay Boulevard and is expected to be completed a year from now, WISC-TV reported.

"There aren't too many situations where you have the opportunity to build a project around a library, and to me that's the key anchor to this whole concept," said Joe Krupp, Sequoya Commons developer.

The Sequoya branch, the most frequently used library in Madison, will nearly double in size, WISC-TV reported.

The project will also house retail space and 145 condos.
