San Francisco Giants (67-69) At Chicago Cubs (55-80), 2:20 P.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs will meet this afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game series at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs earned a 6-2 win in Friday's opener and San Francisco responded with a 4-2 victory on Saturday. Ray Durham belted a two-run homer, while Barry Bonds and Moises Alou added solo shots to help the Giants triumph in the middle game.

Matt Cain pitched 7 2/3 solid innings for the Giants, who have won two of their last three contests to remain 2 1/2 games behind San Diego in the National League wild card race.

Bonds hit his 20th homer of the season and 728th of his career, moving him within 27 of Hank Aaron for the all-time lead.

Derrek Lee belted a solo homer for Chicago, which has lost seven of its last eight games.

Cain (11-9) yielded one unearned run on four hits while striking out seven and walking a pair. Mike Stanton notched his fourth save after relieving Armando Benitez in the ninth.

Sean Marshall (5-9) lasted 5 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Jason Schmidt will try to put his last two starts behind him when he takes the mound for the Giants today.

Schmidt is 0-1 with a 9.65 ERA in his last two trips to the bump and is coming off Tuesday's loss in Atlanta. The veteran right-hander was tagged for eight runs -- four earned -- in just 3 1/3 innings against the Braves.

The former eighth-round pick of the Braves in the 1991 draft is 10-5 with a 2.65 ERA in 19 career starts versus Atlanta.

Angel Guzman will once again take aim at his first big-league victory when he counters for the Cubs this afternoon.

Guzman, a 24-year-old rookie, is 0-4 in 10 games (seven starts) with the Cubs this year. He was handed a loss Monday evening in Pittsburgh after getting slammed for eight runs and 10 hits in just three innings.

The right-hander from Caracas, Venezuela has never faced the Giants.

The Giants took two of three from the Cubs in San Francisco back in May, but Chicago has won seven of the last 12 encounters.
