What is your favorite part about living in Madison?

It's a tie between the lakes and the University. I'm always struck by how beautiful our city is, and how vibrant the UW makes it.(Especially on Badger Saturdays!)

What is the biggest news story that you've covered?

The way politics is going in Wisconsin, wait five minutes and I'll let you know! Covering the introduction of the Budget Repair Bill in 2011, through the protests and historic elections that resulted was probably the most challenging and interesting story I've ever covered. I will also never forget covering the shooting at Weston High School in September of 2006.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spare time? What's that?  I like spending time with my family and teaching my kiddo about all the things I love-- including running (I've done two half-marathons and a full will be in my future!), yoga, scrapbooking, reading and  gardening.  If I get a night out I'd see a concert or try a new restaurant.

What is your family life like? Significant other, married, kids?

I was married to my wonderful husband Brad in 2005, had my daughter Hadley in 2013 and we have a labradoodle named Brees.

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Cookies & Cream

What is your favorite place to vacation?

Anywhere! I love to travel.   So far my favorite destinations are Denver, CO, Maui, HI or Seattle, WA.  I'm dying to take a bucket-list trip to Spain.

What was your favorite band when you were in high school?

I was (and still am!) a pretty big Foo Fighters fan.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?

I love running--but love watching football or basketball.

If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?

I would be able to hear through walls. I'm always wondering what goes on behind closed doors, especially in the Capitol!

What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?

I'm not nearly as good at most team sports as I would like to be-I've wanted to be good at basketball since I was a kid but I just don't seem to have the right coordination. I'd also love to be a good skier given where we live, but am definitely not coordinated enough for that!

What is your most memorable travel experience?

Driving the Road to Hana in Maui and following a trail back to a secluded waterfall. Felt like I was in a movie. Simply magical.
