This is our final report card for our first Read Up! Madison campaign and we have to give you an A.
Your generous support of the campaign by WISC-TV and the Wisconsin State Journal to help more kids avoid the summer reading slide this past summer by getting them books and instructional help made a huge difference.
All told, Read Up sites served more than 580 students at four schools, which is up from 418 students and two sites last year.
The students each received five books and participated in daily literacy-based activities.
An additional 167 students at a fifth site each received five books as well. We'll let you know when we get academic growth numbers from the school district.
But together we made a difference. We helped our kids and we know their families are appreciative.
We're not done. We'll be back next year to continue to grow Read Up!. But until then, thank you.
