Collaborative effort promotes diversity in economic development

Urban League and MadRep partner up

Everyone should attend summit to promote Madison's future

It is a competitive reality that sustainable economic development be defined as broadly as possible in terms of diversity. It's the old botanical adage that monocultures cannot survive.

Well, neither can regional economies that are not based on cultural, racial, gender and age diversity. And in a global economic environment as competitive as the 21st century U.S. environment Madison has to step up its game.

This Friday the Madison Region Economic Partnership and the Urban League of Greater Madison, in a first-of-its-kind collaboration, are hosting a daylong event for local business leaders on ways to advance talent and create opportunity.

The Madison Region Economic Development, Diversity and Leadership Summit will feature national experts and substantive issue sessions to foster collaboration and strategic thinking on ways to grow the regional economy with an emphasis on diversity.

MadRep and the Urban League are both leaders in these areas and their invitation to local businesses to work collectively with them is welcome.

Both of their websites have registration information. We urge you to consider attending in the interest of our shared future.
