Big Brothers Big Sisters' Dora Zuniga is Hispanic Woman of the Year

Dora Zuniga named Hispanic woman of the year

Dora Zuniga is a community leader who needs no qualifier. But in addition to her immeasurable contributions to Dane County as an executive with United Way and for the last decade with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County she is also a Latina strongly connected to and devoted to her community.

As a former executive director of Centro Hispano, she has been an advocate, a mentor and an effective leader. Madison Magazine has recognized Dora as one of the 125 All-Time Most Influential Madisonians.

This week, Zuniga is being honored by the state-wide organization UMOS as Hispanic Woman of the Year. Indeed, Zuniga's influence is felt at both the state and national levels through her leadership of Big Brothers Big Sisters including service on the organization's national Leadership Council.

The honor is recognition of Zuniga's professional accomplishments as a Hispanic woman, but we have to believe it is also a testament to her personal and professional integrity and character. She's a special person, and we are pleased to join in congratulating her on this special honor.
