These local restaurants are donating leftovers...

Madison chefs are experts when it comes to ordering the exact amount of ingredients they need to feed their customers. For the most part, nothing goes to waste—the week’s vegetable and animal trimmings become hearty stock. Yet sometimes, even with the most careful ordering, there are leftovers to be shared.

The Great Dane Pub and Brewing Company and Madison Sourdough are just a couple of Madison establishments that have a long-standing relationship with the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin—a nonprofit that “actively engages all parts of our communities in the struggle to eliminate poverty.” CAC picks up food following the Great Dane Co.’s Sunday buffet and comes for Madison Sourdough’s bread, then delivers it to local food pantries.
