Events to help pick the perfect wine for Thanksgiving

Check out these wine events and others this week

Wednesday, Nov. 8
Every wine connoisseur is familiar with Burgandy. This eastern region in France is among one of the most defined wine-producing areas in the world, and the varieties produced there are uniquely dry with earthy characteristics and aromas. L’Etoile is hosting Burgandy Wine & Dinner this week where you can learn about the history of the region, different wine-making practices and Burgandy-collecting strategies at the four-course dinner. $190, 6:30-9:30 p.m., letoile-restaurant.com

Thursday, Nov. 9
Raise a glass at a Wine Class at Capitol Chophouse, where you can learn all about California Chardonnay. There, you will not only learn the nuances and the structure of several famous wines from the Napa Valley, but also of non-traditional wines from outside the region. Food pairings include Peeky toe crab salad with tarragon, salmon belly rilettes on toast, poached medallion of mushroom-stuffed chicken and more. $28.45, 5-7 p.m., eventbrite.com

Friday, Nov. 10
Are you looking for the perfect wine to serve with your holiday feasts this year? The Drinksgiving tasting at Table Wine can help you out. Whether you’re looking for something light to jumpstart your guests’ appetite, a red or white to complement your cooking or a dessert wine to seal the deal, this tasting will likely have something for you. You’ve worked hard to make the food, so make it pop with the right wine! $14, 5-7 p.m., tablewinemadison.com

Sunday, Nov. 12
With the arrival of the holiday season also comes the harvest of all the freshest fall food; and REAP Food Group celebrates just that with a five-course dinner at the Harvest Gala. There, local chefs—including the chefs from Merchant, Madison Club, Fresco, Cento and more—will be preparing local, sustainable ingredients tableside. Don’t miss the silent auction and the dessert buffet after. $200, 5:30-9 p.m., reapfoodgroup.org
