Monday, Feb. 27
Take a trip to New Orleans at Merchant during Naughty New Orleans. With a complimentary crawfish boil, red beans and rice, it’s as if the food of the Bayou came to Madison. Tuesday, Feb. 28
Some of Madison’s favorite restaurants are joining together to support Porchlight's Original Chef Tasting. Participating restaurants include Cento, Fresco, Graft, Merchant, Short Stack Eatery, Steenbock’s on Orchard, Quivey’s Grove, Cambridge Winery, The Statehouse, Brasserie V and Fromagination & Roth Cheese. Each restaurant provides small plate appetizers and a silent auction dinner package item. $50, 6-8:30 p.m., porchlightinc.org  

German cuisine meets Creole at Essen Haus and Come Back In’s Mardi Gras and Fasching celebration fit for all kings and queens. Throughout the day there will be drink specials and a New Orleans-inspired menu featuring jambalaya, seafood gumbo, po-boys and jerk chicken. Eric Swanson, one of the leading authorities on Japanese alcoholic beverages in the U.S., is visiting Steve’s Tasting Room to discuss Japanese beverage programs. Tasting options include a wide array of imported sake and Japanese whiskey. $10, 7-8 p.m., eventbrite.com

Saturday, March 4
At this year’s Chef in the Classroom Benefit Breakfast, get three locally-sourced, top Madison chef creations for the price of one. Chef Tory Miller of L’Etoile, Graze, Sujeo and Estrellon, Chef Lisa Jacobson of Mermaid Café and Dough Baby all create items at the Dane County Winter Farmer’s Market. All proceeds benefit REAP Food Group’s Chef in the Classroom programs, which teach culinary skills to middle and high school students in Madison. $12, 8:30 a.m., reapfoodgroup.com

Madison’s largest craft beer festival returns for the third year in a row. Madison on Tap serves samples of more than 180 craft beer styles from 90 different breweries. For extra tasting time, consider the VIP level. VIP - $60, General Admission - $40, 12:30 p.m., visitmadison.com 

Explore the Wollersheim Winery & Distillery during its Open House. While touring the areas, tastings will be available of both the new Dry Rosé and Prairie Fumé. Other demonstrations like grapevine pruning, cooking with wine and spirits and winemaker talks will occur throughout the day. 10 a.m.-4 p.m., wollersheim.com
