Father's Day: how did it begin and where is it celebrated?
The idea originated in June 1966, when Sonora Dodd wondered, after hearing a Mother's day sermon, why there wasn't a day for dad's, too. Dodd and his siblings were raised by their father, after their mother died in childbirth. Dodd started a campaign to get the day officially recognized.
A day that is recognized around the world, can be celebrated in various ways. In Germany, it is called Vatertag, and oftentimes known as men's day. It's not uncommon for men to drink with a wagon of beer, wines, and meats.
In the United States, the day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of the month of June.
In China, the holiday is celebrated in August, rather than June like the US does.
