Fidget spinners cause problems in classrooms

Fidget spinners could be distraction...

MADISON, Wis. - A new gadget is flying off of shelves and popping up in classrooms, but some teachers in the Dane County area are concerned it’s a distraction.

Fidget spinners are three-pronged gadgets that spin very fast when they are pinched in the middle.

Advocates of the gadget believe it aids students with anxiety, ADHD or autism by helping them concentrate.

Mount Horeb Intermediate School sent out an email to parents with strict guidelines on how the spinners should be used in classrooms. The goal is to avoid causing a disturbance when other students are learning.

A teacher at Badger Ridge Middle School has asked students to leave the spinners at home.
