DNR needs landowners to host hunt

Land used to allow disabled to hunt

MADISON, Wis. - State wildlife officials are looking for property owners willing to open up their land for this fall's gun deer hunt for the disabled.

The hunt began in 1990 to give the disabled a chance to go after deer while temperatures are still relatively mild. The hunts take place almost entirely on private land. Last year more than 450 hunters participated.

This year's hunt is set for Oct. 5-13.

Anyone interested opening up their land for the hunt can submit applications through the Department of Natural Resources' website. The deadline is June 1.
