Home sales continue to be down throughout the nation, but the Midwest is seeing an even greater decrease, according to the latest data.

According to the National Association of Realtors, home sales in the Midwest dropped at a surprising rate of 37 percent in January. That's significantly more than the seven percent drop throughout the nation during the same period.

In south-central Wisconsin, however, sales are up from last year.

In Dane County, 182 homes were sold in January, compared to 151 in January 2009.

72 homes were sold in Rock County, compared to just 48 in January last year.

Sales in Sauk County, Iowa County, and Dodge County were all up modestly, according to the data.
