Monroe Clinic restricts hospital visitation due to flu
Officials say policy is a precaution to avoid spreading infections
The Monroe Clinic has implemented visitor restrictions for all hospital patients in an effort to protect patients, staff and the community from the flu virus.
The Monroe Clinic said in a news release Thursday that visitors are limited to immediate family members only -- children, grandparents, parents, siblings, spouse/significant other. No one with flu-like symptoms will be permitted to visit.
Officials said all Monroe Clinic hospital visitors should follow these guidelines:
- Do not visit the hospital if you are ill
- Keep the number of visitors and length of visits to a minimum
- Practice hand hygiene before and after each visit with a patient
- If possible, call patients to give your well wishes instead of visiting
Officials said this is only a precaution to avoid spreading infections.
The visitor restriction applies to all patients in all areas of the hospital and is in effect until further notice. It does not apply to the main clinic building, St. Clare Center or any branch locations.
