Doctors in Mexico removed a 33-pound tumor from a 2-year-old boy who only weighed 26 pounds.

Jesus Rodriguez, from the northern state of Durango, was born with the benign lump that eventually took over the right side of his body, stretching from his armpit to his hip, The Daily Mail reported.

It took doctors at the La Raza Medical Center in Mexico City 10 hours to remove the tumor on June 14, Dr. Gustavo Hernandez, the hospital's director of pediatrics, told The Associated Press.

But the surgery was successful and Jesus is recovering and doing well.

Doctors said it was the first time they had removed a tumor larger than the person carrying it, The Daily Mail reported.
