Multiple Clinics Scheduled In December

Updated: 11:33 pm CST November 30, 2009

Officials with Public Health -- Madison & Dane County announced Monday that they have scheduled multiple H1N1 vaccination clinics in the first three weeks of December.

While Public Health officials had held previous vaccine clinics, the big change in this latest block of bookings is that vaccines will now be available by appointment, WISC-TV reproted.

According to Public Health's Web site, since more vaccine is now available, they are also expanding the targeted groups of people who can receive the vaccine. Those groups now include:

  • Pregnant women
  • Persons who live with or provide care for infants age 6 months or younger
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • All people 6 months through 24 years of age
  • Persons 25-64 years of age with conditions associated with higher risk of complications from influenza

Public Health said primary care providers have now received H1N1 vaccine and are working to contact high risk, targeted groups as vaccine becomes available. Members of those groups are advised to call their primary care provider to see if a vaccination appointment can be scheduled.

Otherwise, there are a number of Public Health H1N1 Immunization Clinics scheduled in the first three weeks of December.

An all-day clinic for members of the target groups will be held Monday, Dec. 14, in the exhibition hall of the Alliant Energy Center between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Beyond that clinic, there are multiple appointment-only vaccination clinics are scheduled across the Madison area and will be held primarily on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon during the first three weeks of December.

The Wednesday clinics will be held in Stoughton, Middleton and on Madison's east side between the hours of 2 and 6 p.m.

The Thursday clinics will be held in Sun Prairie, Verona, and on Madison's south side between 3 and 7 p.m.

To schedule an appointment for one of the 18 clinics at those six locations, call the flu line at (608) 243-0555.

School-based H1N1 immunization clinics will resume in January, according to the DCPH Web site.
