There is a new option for people looking for affordable health care in Madison as Walgreens opens its Take Care Clinic in Fitchburg on Fish Hatchery Road.

Prospective patients can walk seven days a week with no appointments necessary.

The clinic will have a staff of nurse practitioners who can screen patients for minor ailments like colds, respiratory or ear infections, and rashes, WISC-TV reported.

"If you had an ear infection or an upper respiratory infection, or any dermatological illnesses, any minor, episodic, acute illnesses, we could see you for," said Wendy Edwards, the lead nurse practitioner at the clinic.

It's an affordable way to get urgent care, with or without insurance, WISC-TV reported.

"It would be either your care co-pay, or your specialist co-pay, depending on what we've contracted with managed care," said Edwards. "If you choose to pay cash, you can, and our visits typically run $59 to $80."

Walgreens plans to open two or more clinics on the east side and near Hilldale later this year
