Monona Considers Smoking Ban Proposal
Council To Weigh Ordinance Next Week

MONONA, Wis. -- Another local community is moving forward on a proposed smoke-free ordinance.Monona Mayor Robb Kahl said that a committee on the issue has drafted an ordinance and it will be considered by the city council next Monday, WISC-TV reported.Five Wisconsin communities have prohibited public smoking. They include Madison, Appleton, Eau Claire, the Milwaukee suburb of Shorewood and the Madison suburb of Shorewood Hills.Fitchburg has adopted similar legislation but still allows public smoking at several locations.Currently, 23 states have banned smoking in bars and restaurants.
