County Officials Announce Company's Plan To Create Manure Digester

Plan Part Of County's 'Cow Power' Project

Updated: 7:35 pm CST November 9,2009

Dane County officials are moving closer to making a long-prepared "green plan" a reality.

County officials announced on Monday that biogas company Clear Horizons LLC. and its partner, SCC Americas, will work on a deal to create a manure digester in Waunakee farms.

The efforts are all part of the county's "cow power" project.

The digester separates methane from liquid manure, creating $2 million of "green" electricity --enough to power 2,500 homes, WISC-TV reported.
