But city officials said the number of jobs created depends on the demand for the product. The company is called RecyGrow, and it uses processed recycled materials to grow sod and other plants indoors. It has announced it is considering opening a facility in Janesville.

On Tuesday WISC-TV spoke with those hoping to start this company, who say everything from production, sales and transportation jobs would be created in Rock County.

Janesville has plenty of space with a number of vacant facilities ready to be leased. But it remains unclear how big of a facility is needed -- and determining that starts with getting an order.

RecyGrow said it's hoping to land state projects. Those contracts are awarded on a project-by-project basis, so the company would likely still need to win bids.

With stimulus money aimed at "green" jobs, some state officials said they believe the company will fit right in.

"Part of it is meeting with commerce and seeing what kind of ideas they can come up with to help support this company to get up and started. As a community in Janesville and Rock County, we're going to do whatever we can to accommodate them," said Assembly Speaker Rep. Mike Sheridan.

The company said it expects to return to in Janesville next week, after meeting with the Department of Commerce this past Monday.

It's not known how many jobs will actually be created even if the company opens its doors in Janesville.

Currently, nothing is in writing and the company needs that first big order to get started, WISC-TV reported.
