Going Green Wisconsin Expo Coming In May

Expo Aims To Expand Awareness About Green Living

UPDATED: 5:13 pm CDT April 22, 2008

Serving as both a symposium on green living and lifestyles as well as an eco-friendly business bazaar, the upcoming Going Green Wisconsin Expo will be the ideal introduction for those seeking to learn how to live and work in a more environmentally conscious fashion.

The expo, scheduled for the first week of May, will be the premier green lifestyle show in the state and will showcase dozens of local and national businesses. The event will include a plethora of instructional/informational presentations, more than 100 exhibitors and product samplers. The event aims to raise public awareness about the environment, how humans interact with it and what everyone can do to reduce their global footprint. It will cover a range of aspects -- from eating green to shopping green and to even drinking green!

The exhibitors, which include Purple Prairie Botanicals, Cobra Head, Conscious Choice, Sundara Inn & Spa, Waunakee Remodeling and Fair Indigo, will present and sell eco-friendly, fair trade and sustainable products.

Beside the exhibitors, all attendees can also join the Center in Democracy in Action for a special state conference. The program, entitled "Green Solutions: What We Can Do!" will be held on Saturday, May 3. Additional educational sessions on topics such as renewable energy and fair trade clothing will also be held.

Other attractions include a hybrid test course, a health and wellness pavilion, a green art gallery, a fresh market and even a green-oriented "kids zone" for your young people.

The expo will be held from May 2 to May 4 in the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

The three-day event will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets will be $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The price includes all samplings and gift bags at the Expo. All attendee who make a donation to Goodwill on site at the Expo will receive five green dollars. Green dollars can be applied toward the at-the-door ticket price. To order tickets, visit here.

The expo comes in conjunction with the Going Green Wisconsin initiative launched by Morgan Murphy Media (Channel 3000.com, Madison Magazine, My Madison TV and WISC-TV). The event is being produced by Madison Magazine.
