IOWA COUNTY, Wis. -- An abandoned Iowa County farm house that sat vacant for more than 50 years is a home again thanks to a family looking to live and farm eco-friendly.

Before buying a Middlebury Hills Farm in Iowa County in 2001, Chris Klaeser and Camela Decaire shopped around for a farm to grow their own produce on, WISC-TV reported.

"We grow the produce aisle really," joked Klaeser.

"Just as we were turning the corner, you could see the metal roof on this house sparkling in the sun," said Decaire.

The couple said that they had finally found the perfect place to start their business and live their dream. But they first had to renovate the farm house, which was in desperate need of repairs.

"That whole reusing, recycling, that whole going green thing is sort of part all of it, restore not just waste it," said Decaire.

Through Community Supported Agriculture, farmers like Klaeser grow produce through every season and sell it locally, keeping the profit and sustainability in the community.

Klaeser said he grows everything from peas to garlic and onions.

He said he and Decaire plan to keep expanding their crops and restoring their home, because their future and the future of the earth depends on it.
