UPDATED: 8:09 am CST February 25, 2008

The nation's governors, including Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, are looking to make clean energy a top priority.

At the 2008 winter meeting of the National Governor's Association, governors are discussing ways to become global leaders in energy efficiency, clean energy technology, and use of alternative fuels, WISC-TV reported.

"It's been helping to drive our manufacturing sector, we find more job opportunities. It's clearly been a great boon for our agricultural sector, and it's increasingly becoming a great boon for our forest industries as well," Doyle said.

Doyle also talked about making clean energy research a top priority for Wisconsin.
