Officials Say Trees Could Also Be Used As Mulch

MADISON, Wis. -- Green experts have some tips for those taking down Christmas trees this time of year.Experts said before tossing the tree, residents should consider recycling it in their own yard, WISC-TV reported.They advise people to simply leave the tree in the stand and place it outdoors to create a shelter for birds. Experts ask that tree owners remove all tinsel, plastic and other non-recyclable ornaments.They said the old Christmas trees can be redecorated with bird food ornaments.
The tree could also be used to mulch sensitive plants, WISC-TV reported.
