Learning Center Trains Contractors To Go Green

Institute Hosts Fair In June

UPDATED: 4:03 pm CDT September 18, 2007

To truly go green, efficient energy systems are a must.

VIDEO: Watch The Report

One of the places charged with facilitating this is Renew The Earth Institute, which is the headquarters for the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and is located east of Stevens Point, in Custer. It's a place where contractors, plumbers, electricians and builders can learn about things like wind and solar electric power systems and solar water heating systems, WISC-TV reported.

"This is one of the only certified training institutions for renewable energy in the nation," said MREA official Amy Heart.

"Whether you're a plumber, a builder or an electrician, and there's a new niche out there that the consumer is asking for and the sooner they can get on board and be an installer, they'll have another product to offer," said MREA's Clay Sterling.

The Renew The Earth House gets thousands of visitors each year. It also hosts an annual energy fair each June, WISC-TV reported.
