Appearances can be deceiving. At first glance the Alchemy Café looks much like its predecessor, Wonder's Pub. That is, until you look at the menu. There are hamburgers to be sure, but the house specialty is a superbly sloppy bison burger with roasted shallots, fresh herbs and garlic mayo on a crusty kaiser roll. If the homemade fries are too conventional, perhaps the wasabi sesame green beans will serve as a satisfactory side instead. Most ingredients are local, many are organic and the vegetarian selections are downright sociable. The bottom line is quality food, creatively prepared at a reasonable price. It's hard not to take a shine to the Alchemy.
