Humane Society Expands To Madison's West Side

New Adoption Facility Opens In High Point Centre

Animal lovers on Madison's West Side now have a more convenient place to shop for a new best friend.

On Saturday, the Dane County Humane Society held the grand opening of its new West Side Adoption Center. The new facility is located in High Point Centre at 7475 Mineral Point Road, WISC-TV reported.

More than 30 animals have already found homes thanks to the new location, and organizers say the new facility also provides a place for new volunteers.

"We always have a lot of people that want to help out and sometimes they just can't," said Dane County Humane Society public relations and development coordinator Gayle Viney. "So this was a great location to get people on the west side that maybe aren't able to get to the east side as easily, to be able to come out, adopt animals or volunteer."

The West Side Adoption Center holds up to 14 cats, two to five dogs, as well as a selection of "critters."
