Beloit Group Raises Money For Genocide Victims

Stroll For Sudan Has Raised $7,000 For Darfur Aid

Dozens of teens walked along Riverside Park in Beloit on Saturday as they raised money for victims of genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

Angelica Schwartz, the walk's organizer, said she saw a commercial about the situation in Sudan and knew she could make a difference.

"Their president has kicked out a ton of humanitarian aid organizations in retaliation for the international criminal court issuing a warrant for his arrest for war crimes in Darfur," said Schwartz. "So, now more than ever, any money that we send over there is really good."

In two years, Schwartz's group has raised more than $7,000, which goes to the humanitarian aid group World Vision.
