A gift from Maine is helping to make less of the world off-limits to a young girl from Oklahoma.

Dru Baker, 7, was paralyzed in a car accident two years ago.

"It's unbelievable. I mean, I was thinking this chair for adults and stuff. This is huge, huge for me."

She traveled across the country to receive a custom-built wheelchair during a ceremony in Eliot, Maine, on Saturday.

The wheelchair is an all-terrain model, painted in hot pink camouflage. It was designed by Eliot native John Rackley, who was also paralyzed in an accident.

"It's unbelievable. I mean, I was thinking this chair for adults and stuff. This is huge, huge for me," Rackley told TV Portland TV station WMTW.

A local cheerleading group raised the $2,200 needed to pay for the chair.

Dru's benefactors were on hand as she was presented the chair in front of a cheering crowd at Marshwood High School.

"Thank you. I love it. I love it, thank you."

Dru and her family planned to spend the next several days in Maine getting lessons on how to operate the wheelchair.
