Independently owned restaurants in Madison will unite to fund and support Madison College culinary arts scholarships at an event Sunday night, according to a release.
More than 20 members of the Madison Originals Restaurant Association will be serving food at Flavors of Madison on Sunday from 5-7:30 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the Madison Concourse Hotel, organizers said. Madison Originals restaurants are committed to sustaining the Madison area dining scene.
Owners and chefs from New Glarus Brewing Co., Wollersheim Winery, Yahara Bay Distillery and Fisher King Winery will be at the event, according to the release. Culinary arts students from Madison College will also be featured at the event.
“Flavors is an exciting community event for anyone in Madison,” said Ed Shinnick, owner and chef of Porta Bella and Paisan’s. “We are proud to showcase local restaurants and fund culinary scholarships to support students enrolled in the Madison College culinary program, which supports the industry in Madison.”
Proceeds from the event’s silent auction and a portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Madison College to fund culinary scholarships, according to the release. Silent-auction items include a private cooking class for 10 people at Liliana’s Restaurant, a five-course tasting menu for two a L’Etoile, a wine and cheese tasting for eight at Quivey’s Grove and a wine dinner for eight at Porta Bella.
“I’m honored to be part of an organization which supports the community, funds the scholarships, and I love that tickets include a $10 gift certificate to be used at our participating restaurants,” said Dave Heide, owner and chef of Liliana’s Restaurant.
Tickets can be purchased before the event for $40 at Porta Bella, Liliana’s Restaurant or online.
