(CNN) -

The topic of motherhood was brought up when Queen Latifah stopped by "The View" on Wednesday, and the 42-year-old actress revealed that she's still planning to adopt, a goal she's had for awhile.

"I'm actually kind of working on that," she said. "I just always wanted to bring a child home. It doesn't matter where the child (comes) from."

And while Latifah's rep tells People magazine that there's "nothing new to report" on the baby front, Latifah assured Barbara Walters that she's "serious" about one day expanding her family.

"I'm totally serious, so if you got a kid ... Just give me a year," she said. "Let me set up camp and send me the kid."

She already has the family-friendly part down: Queen Latifah next stars in "Ice Age: Continental Drift," which opens Friday.
