(CNN) -

An injury sustained on the set of "The Good Wife" has sidelined actress Kristin Chenoweth, at least for the time being.

The 44-year-old Tony winner was expected to have a multi-episode arc on the CBS show in its fourth season as a political reporter, according to the Los Angeles Times, but she's had to put that commitment on hold to focus on recovery.

According to TMZ, Chenoweth was struck with a piece of falling set equipment on July 11 while filming the CBS drama in Brooklyn and, according to an unnamed source, hit her head on the concrete when she fell.

CBS explained in a statement to People magazine at the time that "a gust of wind blew a lighting silk out of place striking (Chenoweth) ... All of us at the studio and the show are thinking about Kristen and wishing her a quick recovery."

But on Aug. 13, the actress said in a statement that she's yet to fully bounce back from her accident.

"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to 'The Good Wife' at this time," Chenoweth said. "Getting better slowly and thank you everyone for your concern."

Chenoweth will appear in the fourth season premiere on Sept. 30, and she added on Twitter that she does hope to eventually return.

"I love 'The Good Wife' and will be back when i can," she tweeted Monday in response to a fan.
