Donna's Panna Cotta
This is a traditional Italian dessert that is made with milk and yogurt. It is high in protein and low in fat. Serve it with fresh fruit for rave reviews.
- 1 envelope (7 grams) unflavored gelatin powder
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 2 cups fat-free milk or milk of your choice
- 1/2 cup sugar or Splenda
- 1 cup vanilla 2% Greek yogurt or low fat sour cream
In a heavy medium saucepan, combine gelatin powder and water. Stir to mix. Slowly add milk, one tablespoon at a time while stirring, until gelatin is mixed into the milk. Add sugar. Cook over medium heat, while stirring constantly, until mixture come to a boil. Remove from heat and cool in refrigerator until mixture just begins to set. Add yogurt or sour cream and vanilla. Stir to mix well. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
