    Cynthia Quinn and John Ribble: Neighborhood Perspectives
  • A master gardener and experienced watercolor painter, Cynthia Quinn offers oil paintings focusing on botanical, figurative, still life, and landscapes images as well as historic landmarks and the creative ways Wisconsin natives manipulate and develop their properties. Using soft pastel and working exclusively in plein air, John Ribble exudes the effect of the connection between artist and location through a sense of spontaneity.

    Passed But Still Present: Icons Of Black History
  • This exhibit features drawings by Madison artist Stanley Sallay, an ex-prisoner and father of four who is a graduate of the UW Odyssey Class of 2007. The Odyssey Project provides members of the community facing economic barriers with a chance to start college.

    Automata: Contemporary Mechanical Sculpture
  • The Chazen offers thirteen international artist-designed automata that surprise and delight as their hand-cranked mechanisms jolt to life. Crafted with wood, metal, and wire, these mechanical and complex sculptures use their springs and tension to emanate an aesthetic of expression and humor.

    Lisa A. Frank and Mary Hark: The Nature of Surface
  • Local artists Lisa A. Frank and Mary Hark offer works from domestic environments with a quality of complexity. Frank uses photographs, digital scans, and found imagery from nature as a means to create her detailed compositions. Hark offers sewn and layered paintings that inhabit the common themes of domestic cloth through an exploration of handmade flax and linen papers.

    Butterflies and Blooms: Photography by Ann Thering
  • Professional photographer and avid butterfly gardener, Ann Thering offers an exhibit that combines her two beloved hobbies. Her photos expose the beauty, habitat, and textures of butterflies through her use of natural light and minimal digital work. Featuring remarkable photography work that captures the bottom side of butterflies’ wings, Thering offers images of nature’s most awesome organization of color.

    MIKSANG: The Phenomenal World, Shambhala Center of Madison
  • Miksang photography derives from the teachings of Shambala Buddist founder Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Miksang–meaning "good eye"–offers photographs that explore the phenomenal world showing beautiful images of what we often overlook. The Miskang group at the Shambala Center in Madison portrays their collective work without post-process –- these photos are taken as is, offering a path into detailed images focused on the clarity and purity of life around us.

  • Organized by Julia Taylor, Home Sweet Home offers a print portfolio exchange to bring together emerging, professional, and established print artists. Asking their audience to question the meaning of home, the artists explore the emotions, philosophies, and physical representations of the nature of the home.

    Rock Prairie Concert Band Musical Goulash
  • The Rock Prairie Concert Band will present “Musical Goulash” on Wednesday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirk Denmark Theatre on the campus of UW-Rock County, 2909 Kellogg Ave.
  • This concert will feature a mixture of pieces; some are brand new, others are very old, and some are left over from the cancelled December holiday concert. Works composed by John Rutter, Barry Kopetz, Alfred Reed and others will be featured.
  • Admission is free, but a $2 donation is suggested, and refreshments will be provided for a charge from Mocha Moment.
