Updated: 3:18 pm CDT October 30, 2008

Those who are too spooked to mingle with the ghosts and ghouls on State Street for Freakfest can watch a live video stream of the event on Channel 3000.

Channel 3000 will have a livestream camera set up at on undisclosed location on State Street to capture the crowds, costumes and excitement on Nov. 1.

Viewers can also read updates on Freakfest throughout the night on a Channel 3000 live blog.

Freakfest, a city-sanctioned event, was born out of the annual Halloween celebrations along State Street in Madison. In 2006, the city started charging admission to the event, setting up fences around the area and offering live musical entertainment. The steps were in response to violence and property damage that had marred the Halloween party in past years.

Freakfest 2008 will start at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, and end at 1:30 a.m. Nov. 2. Tickets for admission cost $7 in advance and $10 the day of the event.
