Oscar Winner To Star In Coen Brothers Remake Of 'The Ladykillers'

As the Coen brothers put the finishing touches on their latest movie, word is that they've snared Tom Hanks to star in their next picture.

Tom HanksTheir current movie -- a romantic comedy called "Intolerable Cruelty" -- is in post-production and stars George Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Geoffrey Rush and Billy Bob Thornton.

Described by one online review of the script as an "homage to the screwball comedy," the movie stars Clooney as a slick Hollywood divorce lawyer who falls in love with a gold-digging wife of one of his clients only to humiliate her in court prompting her to seek revenge.

As the flick readies for release, Variety reported that Tom Hanks has signed on to star in "The Ladykillers," a Coen Brothers remake of the 1955 comedy starting Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers.

The story revolves around a grumpy old landlady who rents room to a group of thieves who use the room as a hideout. They encounter difficulty when they try and oust the landlady from her house.

The Coen brothers made the Oscar-winning "Fargo" which was shot in their home state of Minnesota. The brothers' other films include 'O Brother, Where Are Thou?," "Raising Arizona" and "Blood Simple."
