MILWAUKEE -- A Marquette University student will be able to put a Johnny Depp film on his resume.
Marquette University Student In Johnny Depp MovieKeith Kubasta was one of some 3,000 people who stood in line in Oshkosh trying to get a part as an extra with Johnny Depp. And when it was all over, he was among the fewer than 10 percent who got a part in the movie. But Kubasta isn't a theater major. He's a business student working on his marketing degree, but he said he couldn't pass up the opportunity. He said after the experience, he fell in love with the movie business."It's a lot of shooting and running around and scattering of the crowd, so it was interesting. It was fun. It was a lot of moving, and I had a lot of fun with it," said Kubasta. He said despite the fun, the hours were grueling."I think on the first day we worked from -- we showed up at wardrobe about 6 a.m. in the morning and we were there until about 8 p.m. at night before we finished filming," said Kubasta. The soon-to-be business grad said being part of a make-believe bank robbery was a lot better than working at a bank."So everyone is going to want to know, did you get to see Johnny Depp?" said Kubasta. "I did. I saw him numerous times throughout the day. He was working on and off set. You could always tell when he was coming on set because you could hear the crowd just cheering as his SUV rolled up."The business major said it's good for Wisconsin business to be getting more movies because of the new tax incentives for filmmakers. And to get his feet wet in such a large production, he said he couldn't put a value on it.
