New Performers, Times Announced For Freakfest Stages

Organizers behind Freakfest 2007 have announced new performers and stage times for this weekend's event.

Freakfest is scheduled to begin on 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on State Street in downtown Madison. Frank Productions, the city of Madison and the University of Wisconsin ASM are organizing the event.

The performers and events will be spread over three stages along the State Street area and will feature local and national acts.

The newest artists announced are DJ Mike Carlson and DJ Pap Love, who will spin from the time that gates open and in between each live performer.

The rundown includes:

Mountain Dew Stage

  • DJ Mike Carlson, 7:30 P.M.
  • Midway State, 8 P.M.
  • Mighty Short Bus, 9 P.M.
  • Matt Wertz& Dave Barnes, 10:15 P.M.
  • Lifehouse, 12:20 A.M.

    The stage will be hosted by Connie & Fish of radio station Z104.

    Milio's/Onion Stage

  • DJ Papi Love, 7:30 P.M.
  • Mike Droho, 8:15 P.M.
  • Rob Dz, 9:30 P.M.
  • Locksley, 10:45 P.M.
  • Ky Mani Marley, 12 A.M.

    The stage will be hosted by Ryan Walker of radio station Z104.

    Isthmus Stage

  • Gomeroke, 8 P.M.
  • Costume Contest, 11 P.M.
  • Battle Of The Bands Winner, 12 A.M.

    The stage will be hosted By Curtis of radio station WIBA FM and University of Wisconsin ASM.

    Besides the times, organizers have also unveiled more information about the Freakfest 2007 Parade of Freaks Costume Contest. The contest, which is being sponsored by the UW ASM and Isthmus, will be held at 11 p.m. at the Isthmus Stage, located in Peace Park near State Street.

    Freakfest attendees will be chosen by a member of the roving Freak Patrol, who will be moving through the crowd beginning at 7:30 p.m. and giving out special Stage Cards that will give costumer revelers the information needed of when to show up. Participants will compete for prizes in one of several categories, including "Most Humorous," "Scariest," "Most Creative," "Best Look-a-like," and "Best Overall." To be considered for the contest finals, attendees are encouraged to find a Freak Patrol member or stop by the Isthmus Stage.

    The prizes will be donated by the Madison Downtown Merchants, Isthmus newspaper and the Madison Business Improvement District.

    Headlining the Isthmus Stage will be the winning band chosen at the UW ASM Battle of the Bands, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre in Madison. Admission is only $3 at the door. The competitors include Ra Fury, Submarine Race, Fedora, Pearl Snap Saturday, 20 Something and The Brutal D's. The competing bands were chosen by UW ASM from a stack of over 40 submissions.
