Listen up!

Class is in session.

WWE "Vengeance" is history -- as the players in Vince McMahon's ring circus were in Houston for a big pay-per-view. Every match was a title match -- but were there any upsets? Details to follow:

WWE Women's Championship Match: Melina (c) vs. Candice Michelle
What Should Happen: I hear Candice has learned to wrestle the past few months. Not that I've paid any attention. If so, maybe it's time for her to start a title reign. Do I really care? No, Daddy.

What Will Happen: Bet the mortgage: Candice wins.

What Did Happen: I hope you wagered at least 1K on this match, because the Candice is the new WWE Women's Champ. Told ya.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match: Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. Jimmy Wang Yang
What Should Happen: I'm not sure, but I think this is JWY's first match on a pay-per-view. Here, both guys are great workers -- so this could be pretty entertaining. While I'm not thrilled about constant title changes, why not have the Asian Cowboy win?

What Will Happen: My money is on Jimmy Wang Yang.

What Did Happen: Chavo won it after hitting Wang Yang with a frog splash.

Professor Wrestling Audio Podcast: 'Old School, New School' -- Episode 35!

World Tag Team Championship Match: Trevor Murdoch and Lance Cade (c) vs. The Hardys
What Should Happen: Murdoch and Cade just won the belts from Matt and Jeff, so there's no way they'll lose them here. That would be dumb -- especially with Brian Kendrick and Paul London moving to "Raw."

What Will Happen: The heel redneck team will win it. That's Cade and Murdoch to those of you not paying attention.

What Did Happen: Cade and Murdoch won it, keeping the titles. Yay!

U.S. Championship Match: MVP (c) vs. Ric Flair
What Should Happen: I can't stand MVP, and I think Flair is the greatest of all time. MVP should kiss the ground for being in the ring with the Nature Boy. If I were writing the script, I'd have Flair win, but refuse to wear the U.S. belt simply because it's beneath him. As usual, he deserves better.

What Will Happen: If WWE lets Flair win this match, I will fall over face first -- just like the great one. MVP will win.

What Did Happen: MVP pinned The Nature Boy cleanly for the win.

Intercontinental Title Match: Santino Marella (c) vs. Umaga
What Should Happen: I have to pay for this? This has "Raw" curtain-jerker written all over it. If there's any justice in this world, Umaga will win in about 25 seconds.

What Will Happen: Why Marella is in the championship mix is way beyond me. But he'll somehow win again here.

What Did Happen: Marella won by DQ when Umaga didn't break a five-count. Umaga then destroyed the champ.

ECW Championship Match: C.M. Punk vs. Chris Benoit
What Should Happen: This title is vacant, with Benoit coming over to ECW to class up the joint. There's no doubt in my mind he should be the champion here. It's not a bad move to put the seasoned vet in a teaching position.

What Will Happen: Benoit will beat Punk via tapout.

What Did Happen: Benoit wasn't at the match because of "personal reasons." He was replaced by Johnny Nitro, who beat C.M. Punk for the ECW belt.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (c) vs. Batista
What Should Happen: This is supposedly Batista's last chance at Edge's belt. He won't win. Nor should he, as Edge has a zillion times more charisma as Batista.

What Will Happen: Edge will win this match.

What Did Happen: Edge won after Batista failed to get back into the ring after a 10-count.

WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. Booker T. vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Mick Foley vs. Randy Orton
What Should Happen: It's a five-way scrum for the gold, as four former champs on the "Raw" roster tangle with Cena. If I were running things, I'd have Foley be a factor until the very end -- ultimately foiling Orton. Lashley and Booker will use this match to build their own program.

What Will Happen: Cena will survive again. I'm guessing it'll be Cena versus Orton at "SummerSlam."

What Did Happen: Cena pinned Foley to retain his WWE belt.

There you have it. The preview/review of WWE's "Vengeance." For the record, I had seven right, and just one wrong. I'm marking down the Benoit match as a victory because the guy that replaced him won. Sounds fair to me. And just to be clear, you have to marvel at my wisdom in these matters. After all, they don't just hand out doctorates in TV wrestling to anyone.

One other point of order before we go: make sure to download EPISODE 35 of "Old School, New School," the sensational Professor Wrestling podcast. This week, my co-hosts Dr. Mike Lano and George Schire talk about the untimely passing of Sherri Martel among other topics. As usual, it's audio excellence not be missed.

That's it!

Class is dismissed!
