Rainwater Cites Lack Of Funding For Program's End

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Metropolitan School District will end its agricultural education program after more than six decades of instruction.Mary Klecker, who's retiring, has led the program for three decades.In a letter to the school board and state officials, Klecker criticizes district administrators for ending the program, saying they "lack a grasp" of the state's agricultural heritage and the importance of agribusiness.Superintendent Art Rainwater said that the decision to end agricultural education came down to a lack of money because of the state's revenue limits on school districts.
