UW System Might Pioneer 'Dual Transcript' For Graduates

Second Document Would Detail Volunteer Work, Internships

Updated: 12:09 pm CST February 6, 2008

University of Wisconsin System graduates might soon have two transcripts to show their potential employers.

The traditional one would still list classes taken and grades earned, but a second would describe the student's personal development during their college years, such as internships, volunteer work and group activities.

UW System President Kevin Reilly said that he's going to propose the idea to the Board of Regents on Thursday.

Reilly said that Wisconsin would be the first state to adopt the concept throughout its university system and he will create a task force to fine tune the plan.

Reilly said that the second transcript would encourage students to perform volunteer work and get involved in activities. He said that it would give employers a better sense of student abilities and therefore make UW System graduates more marketable.
