Madison School District Seeks Name For Elementary School
School Board Seeks Public Input

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking suggestions from the public on the name for a new elementary school under construction on the West Side.The school was to be named Vang Pao Elementary in honor of the Hmong leader General Vang Pao.But the school board voted to renamed the school after Pao was arrested last June. Pao is accused of plotting to overthrow Laos' communist government.For name submissions, the person must be a deceased local or national leader. Name submissions can also include a locally significant geographical site, location or concept.Suggestion forms are available at the Doyle Administration Building at 545 W. Dayton St. or on the school district's Web site.
