Janesville Farmers Market Returns Home

Market Had Been Displaced Due To Flooding

UPDATED: 12:44 pm CDT July 20, 2008

The Janesville Farmers Market returned to its regular home on Main Street Saturday.

After flooding in downtown Janesville, the market was forced to move to a parking lot at the Rock County Courthouse for the last month.

Many said that the market lost its unique character in the move. But now that it is back downtown, organizers said that things are finally getting back to normal.

"We've missed this. We missed the feel. We missed the environment, the atmosphere. It just feels like this is where we belong, and we're just glad to be back," Teri Huber, manager of the Janesville Farmers Market, said on Saturday.

There were a few worries about moving back to Main Street; specifically, the floods had caused several sink holes to open up. But those holes are further down the road from the market and therefore out of the way.
