Wisconsin Women's Hockey Lands Three Players On U.S. U-22 Team

Duggan, Lawler, Knight Named To U.S. Squad

In a show of just how deep and skilled the University of Wisconsin women's hockey team is, three Badger players have been selected to compete for the U.S. Women's Under-22 team.

Leading the way for the Badger contingent is Meghan Duggan, who tied for the team lead in scoring with 43, tallying 20 goals and 23 assists. The First-Team Western Collegiate Hockey Association selection's 20 goals ranked her No. 19 in the nation.

Erica Lawler, a second-team All-WCHA pick was also named to the U.S. squad along with teammate Hillary Knight.

Lawler tied for third on the on team in points with 40, and lead the Badgers in assists with 28. Knight earned WCHA All-Rookie Team and as a freshman ranked second on the team in goals with 20 and tied for fifth on the team in assists with 18.

The Badgers finished 29-9-3 this past season and fell 4-0 to the University of Minnesota Duluth in the championship game of the NCAA Frozen Four.

The U.S. Under-22 Team will participate in the USA Hockey Women’s National Festival in Lake Placid starting Aug. 12. The team will then play in a three-game series against Canada’s Under-22 Team in Pierrefonds, Que., Aug. 20-23.
