Georgia G Humphrey Dismissed

POSTED: 6:23 pm CDT June 27, 2008

(Sports Network) - The University of Georgia dismissed guard Billy Humphrey on Friday, following an arrest Tuesday for DUI, among other charges.

Humphrey, 20, was set to enter his senior season with the Bulldogs after appearing in 30 of 34 games last season including 28 starts. He was Georgia's second-leading scorer last season, averaging 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Humphrey led the Bulldogs with 37 percent shooting from three-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Humphrey was arrested Tuesday morning for DUI, failure to maintain his lane and purchasing alcohol while under age.

This was Humphrey's second arrest on alcohol-related charges in the past six months after being charged with two misdemeanors, including underage consumption of alcohol, in February.

"I am disappointed in Billy," Georgia head coach Dennis Felton said. "We've worked really hard with him in the past to see that he succeeds, but I feel that it's now best for our program to move forward without him."
