State DMV Offices Will Close Again For Furloughs

Phone, Online Services Still Available

Posted: 12:22 pm CST November 22, 2009

State Division of Motor Vehicle offices will close on Friday so employees can take their fourth furlough day this year.

The state budget Gov. Jim Doyle signed this past summer orders all state employees to take 16 unpaid furlough days over the next two years to help balance the state's finances.

State transportation officials said motorists still can use the DMV's automated phone system Friday to make road test appointments and access recorded information.

They also said that third-party partners such as police stations, grocery stores, and other institutions offer titling and registration services. Motorists also can take care of registration renewals online 24 hours a day.

All DMV offices will be open again on Monday, Nov. 30.
