The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a complete list Thursday of every school district in all 50 states that received some of the recalled meat.

The list shows that six local school districts were affected by the recall in February. Those school districts are: Adams Friendship, Tri-County Area, DeForest, Madison Metropolitan, Marshall and Sun Prairie.

Ken Syke, spokesman for the Madison Metropolitan School District, said the district placed a notice on its Web site nearly a month ago when the recall was initially issued. He said the district had some beef that was linked to the extended recall dates and that some might have been served before the recall but that there were no known problems.

Steven LaVallee, Adams Friendship School District administrator, said that district officials were notified a month ago by the USDA and that they immediately destroyed all of the beef they had in the freezer related to the recall.

The USDA issued the recall after video showed workers abusing sick cows with electric prods and high-pressure water hoses.

USDA officials also noted that the recall covered two years, so students at any of the schools might not have consumed the potentially tainted beef.
