Doyle Announces $33M In New Initiatives For Agriculture
Plan Includes Funds To Help Farmers Reduce Pollution

MADISON, Wis. -- Gov. Jim Doyle has announced $33 million in new initiatives for the state's agriculture industry.Doyle said that the spending is targeted at expanding the next generation of dairy farmers and other agriculture businesses in Wisconsin.The governor's plan includes making $13 million available to farmers to help reduce pollution and deal with wastewater.He also is making $10 million available to help plants produce more whey, a cheese byproduct used in processed foods.The initiative announced on Thursday also includes tax credits for upgrading equipment on dairy plants and meat processing facilities and credits to help cheese cooperatives.
