Woman finds dead frog in Pret A Manger salad
Company investigating, says it takes 'issues like this very seriously'
A Wall Street Journal staffer returning to the newsroom found a stomach-churning stowaway after opening her Pret A Manger salad -- a dead frog lying atop the mixed greens.
The dead amphibian somehow made it into the unidentified staffer's Nicoise salad, which was sold at the 47th Street and Sixth Avenue location, according to her co-worker, who posted it on Instagram.
Digital Features editor Kathryn Lurie later tweeted that the encounter left her coworker "pretty shaken, understandably!"
"At Pret A Manger, we take issues like this very seriously," the company said in a statement. "Our lettuce is sourced from farms that do not use any pesticides on its produce, therefore organic matter does very rarely manage to pass through our production process. We are currently looking into this issue to make every effort that this does not happen again."
