Do you know the history behind the American flag?

The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states, and the 13 stripes stand for the original 13 colonies.

The first American flag was made by Betsy Ross in 1776. Her flag had the 13 stripes and featured 13 stars in a circle.

The American flag has been altered numerous times over history as new states were added to the union. The current version of the U.S. flag was created in 1960 at add a star for Hawaii. While Hawaii became a state in 1959, a new version of the flag wasn’t released until the following year.
